ZIMPAPERS Junior Media Club hosted six schools in the past week as the largest integrated media company steps up its corporate social responsibility initiative to groom a media-literate young generation.
Members of media clubs from Mother Touch, Bradford Private, Destiny Achievers, and, Prince Edward Schools went through the first training session during which they were taught news values and story angling.
Mutoko-based Munashe Private’s media members and Watershed in Marondera toured Zimpapers stable where they familiarized themselves with media operations.
The Zimpapers Junior Media club is three-pronged involving a launch of the program at selected schools in all the provinces countrywide.
From there member clubs have the opportunity to tour Zimpapers newsrooms and studios where they interact with veterans within the industry and gain an appreciation of the media’s operations.
The third part sees veterans of the profession and within the organization conducting pieces of training with the member clubs as a way to equip them with media skills.
These include skills that are associated with print, social, and broadcasting media.
